Problem: The lack of railway connection between the largest administrative units of Northern Priazovya, from the Kakhovka Reservoir in the west to the mouth of the Kalmius River in the east, makes the rapid tourist development of this potentially powerful resort region impossible.
Project goal: To organize a permanent, uninterrupted, high-quality railway connection with high-speed electric trains to create stable conditions that will facilitate the movement of the population (students, vacationers, tourists, builders, service workers, hotel-type institutions, etc.) along the Azov coastal strip, 30-60 km wide, by constructing a critical infrastructure facility - an electrified branched railway line of the Prydniprovska Railway with connections: a) Henichesk - Yakymivka - Melitopol - Pryazovske - Prymorsk - Berdyansk - Mariupol; b) Nova Kakhovka - Yakymivka - Melitopol - Pryazovske - Prymorsk - Berdyansk - Mariupol.
Effect: The implementation of the project will allow the southern districts of Zaporizhzhia region (Berdyansk, Melitopol), Kherson region (Henichesk, Kakhovka), Donetsk region (Mariupol):
✅ To meet the needs of constant transportation of a sufficient/desired number of people (over 1,339,000) for the rapid recovery of territories and their economic growth due to additional labor resources;
✅ To create additional jobs through the unobstructed labor and student migration along the Azov Sea coast of the labor resources remaining in Priazovya (the job creation process will be multi-stage: first, during the construction of the Priazovska electrified railway line; second, during its operation and maintenance; third, during the construction of a network of scientific and technical institutions and large-scale hotel and tourist complexes along the Priazov coastal strip parallel to the railway around major railway stations);
✅ To receive additional tax revenues to local budgets;
✅ To accelerate scientific progress in the resortopolis by retaining local personnel in the settlements of Zaporizhzhia region and preventing them from moving to remote regional centers of other regions, while personnel from neighboring Kherson and Donetsk regions (primarily but not exclusively) will arrive in southern Zaporizhzhia region (to Berdyansk and Melitopol districts);
✅ To reorient significant migrating human masses / passenger flow / to the electric train, which will significantly reduce the road transport load on the Melitopol-Berdyansk section of the national highway M-14 Odesa-Mariupol, thereby preventing the accelerated destruction of the upper layers of the asphalt (asphalt concrete) pavement of this transport artery;
✅ To ensure the initiation, development, and sustainable functioning of student towns and new residential buildings, which will be predominantly inhabited by people of the same age category, as sociological research shows that young people stay and give the next working generations in cities where there is convenient transport and railway connections combined with a sea coast or other large water bodies and a sufficient number of jobs with above-average wages (IT technologies, construction, management, logistics, transport and telecommunications, banking).
