Improving the Ecosystem of the Chernihivka Settlement Territorial Community through the Implementation of the Project "Reconstruction and Expansion of the Landfill of Solid Household Waste of KP "Chernihivka Production Management of HCS"

Problem: The landfill for solid household waste (SHW) in the urban-type settlement of Chernihivka has been in operation since 1975, does not meet current legislative requirements, and is already overfilled and has completely exhausted its capacity. Currently, due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, a critical environmental situation has developed in the area, as garbage collection is not being carried out, and spontaneous dumps are being created. Upon the liberation of the territory, this situation will be exacerbated many times over. If the landfill is not brought into compliance, 41 settlements of the Chernihivka Settlement Territorial Community will be left without a waste disposal site, posing a threat of environmental catastrophe on the scale of the community territory, which is 1200 km², and the southeastern part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Project goal: To ensure efficient and environmentally safe management of solid household waste in the Chernihivka Settlement Territorial Community. Expanding the existing landfill to increase its capacity and provide long-term sorting, storage, and reuse of waste to improve the local ecosystem.

Effect:

✅ Reconstruction of the existing SHW landfill carried out;
✅ Reduced negative impact on the environmental condition of the community territory and on public health;
✅ Landfill equipped with engineering protection systems for groundwater and surface water from contamination by toxic waste components;
✅ Increased SHW capacity;
✅ Creation of 19 new jobs;
✅ Elimination of pollution causes for the environment in 41 settlements and the southeastern part of the Zaporizhzhia region;
✅ Construction of a SHW sorting line with the necessary set of buildings and structures to ensure the selection of resource-valuable waste, which will be transferred for recycling to the appropriate organizations;
✅ Achieved SDGs 11, 12, 13, and 15 by 2030;
✅ Increased attractiveness for investors.

Need:

➡️ Installation of a transformer substation KTP-10/0.4 kV, reactive power compensation devices 35kVAr type KRP-0.4-35/5;
➡️ Arrangement of electricity supply to the landfill by cable lines from TP-10/0.4 kV;
➡️ Arrangement of grounding and lightning protection systems for the facility buildings;
➡️ Installation of outdoor lighting for the landfill;
➡️ Construction of a SHW sorting plant with the installation of a sorting line with a capacity of 2.5 tons/hour;
➡️ Organization of a sanitary protection zone;
➡️ Construction of an administrative and utility building (modular);
➡️ Arrangement of an access road, disinfection pool, entrance to the landfill, solid fence, truck scale, inspection platform, checkpoint, fire reservoirs, parking for cars, leachate collection well, toilet with cesspool, evaporative pond, equipment shed, and earth bunds;
➡️ Purchase of equipment (towable grader, Shantui SD16 bulldozer, Sardin SD1004D tractor – 4 units) and other equipment;
➡️ Installation of a protective screen for the SHW landfill, 1 running meter
